NiD Recipes4Residents CMTF Contest Guidelines

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: November 29, 2024 5:00 pm EST

Nutrition in Disguise (NiD)*, is holding a recipe contest in collaboration with the Canadian Malnutrition Task Force (CMTF) Long-Term Care and Food Working Group.

Recipe requirements
  1. The recipe should include a higher amount of protein per serving than the original recipe. Submissions should focus on a single food item, not an entire meal, and can include nutrient-enhanced beverages. Extra points will be awarded for recipes high in fiber, low in sodium, and that increase calcium intake.
  2. Should have been scaled, tried and tested with residents in their own LTC home
  3. The recipe should NOT be too complex or include time consuming steps
  4. Description of how your recipe was developed in the home, how long it has been in use and if variations have also been tried with residents. Does the recipe work well for minced and pureed texture modifications?

Who can submit?

LTC homes or their employees (e.g. chefs, foodservice managers, dietitians)  from across Canada are invited to participate in a recipe submission contest for recipes that are nutrient, energy, and protein dense with modified textures suitable for LTC residents.

Judging Criteria

A panel of members from CMTF’s LTC and Food Working Group will be  judging the recipes based on the following criteria:

  1. Meets specified protein requirements
  2. Complete recipe with simple steps provided
  3. Inexpensive
  4. Adaptable for different textures
  5. Visually appealing

Winners

The top three recipes will be announced, with winners receiving prizes ($250 for first place, $100 for second place, and $50 for third place) and award certificates.

Recipes that meet NiD Recipe requirements may be eligible for publication by the NiD team at the Ontario CLRI website and may also be published on the CMTF website.  If recipes are published, credit will be given to the homes/individuals that developed them.
